There are different commitment levels within the team. First time swimmers are evaluated and placed in an appropriate group so that they can enjoy their experience, learn new skills and continue with the Club.  The coaching team recommends movement to higher levels following an evaluation of skills, logistics, and availability.  Most group changes occur after the current season has ended.

Teddy Bears is a pre-competitive program for young swimmers ages 6 and up. Learn the FUNdamentals of competitive swimming.  Teddies spend 45 minutes per week at the pool.

Cubs is the entry level of the club. The focus is for swimmers to learn about competitive swimming skills and strokes. Children entering this level should be able to swim at least one length of the pool. Cubs train 2 hours per week.

Brown Bears continue working strokes, starts, and turns, and build on endurance. They swim 3 hours weekly.

Black Bears should be familiar with all strokes and strive to demonstrate proficiency in each. The emphasis of the program lies in making a good stroke better, plus introduction to the training of the energy systems. Training occupies 4.5 hours a week.

Polar Bears are familiar with all strokes. They swim 8 hours a week, continuing to build on strength, endurance and speed.

Kodiaks fine tune their strokes and enjoy dry-land training.  They train 10 hours per week.

Silver Tips and Silver Tips+ train 14+ hours per week.  Workouts include flexibility and strength exercises as part of dry-land training. Athletes have opportunities to compete in Alaska, B.C., Alberta and occasionally the rest of Canada.
