Swim meet basics

How to enter a swim meet:

Information concerning each meet will be available to each swimmer at least two to three weeks prior to the actual meet date. It is the responsibility of the swimmer, with parental help, to accurately register for the meet before the deadline date. The following steps are necessary to register a swimmer for a meet:

  1. Check the meet information. Swimmers will be given the meet information and copies will be made available for those who do not receive one.
  2. Check eligibility requirements. Some meets are open to all levels and some are restricted.
  3. Check event entry criteria (for example, only 6 events may be chosen). Also check to see whether the swimmer is allowed to choose his/her own events or if the coach is assigning events for the meet. The coach will make this clear prior to the sign up period.
  4. Sign up for the meet can be done by either directly speaking to the coach at practice or via telephone or email. The coach will also indicate if there are swim club executives that will be collecting entries.
