Swim-to-"somewhere in the Yukon"
Location: TBD
Distance: TBD
Part 1 - January 22: Junior Competitive, Non-Competitive & Pre-Competitive Groups
Part 2 - January 23: Competitive Groups
The Swim-to-Somewhere-in-the-Yukon event is one of WGB’s biggest and most exciting annual fundraisers; a fun way for swimmers to challenge themselves in the pool while raising money to support WGB!
How It Works:
WGB coaches choose a destination somewhere in the Yukon, and the distance from Whitehorse to that location becomes our Swim Challenge goal. To "travel" the distance, swimmers are challenged to complete as many lengths as possible during a single session (1–2 hours), with goals tailored to their age and ability. Every length adds up—together, we aim to reach our destination as a team!
Collect Pledges:
Swimmers collect donations from family, friends, and supporters, either as a flat amount or per length swum. All donations are collected through the WGB pledge sheet, which will be emailed to families prior to the event.
On the day of, swimmers come together at the pool to complete their swim under coach supervision. It’s energetic, fun, and full of team spirit.
Fund Allocation:
100% of funds raised are applied directly to the individual athlete’s fundraising obligation. Per WGB’s Fundraising Policy, once an athlete’s full fundraising obligation has been met:
50% will be credited to the athlete’s account for future WGB fees or eligible costs, in accordance with WGB’s Account Credits Policy.
50% will be retained by WGB as general Club revenue.
